Cross boarder collaboration established for increasing commercialization and start up activities between the United States and Canada
Calgary, Alberta, Canada – April 11, 2013 – The Alliance for Commercialization of Canadian Technologies (ACCT Canada) and the Midwest Research University Network (MRUN) have entered into a partnership to promote and support commercialization and technology transfer activities among their respective membership and communities.
“Today, technology based startups are competing in a global market. With the concerted effort of a Midwest support network, ACCT Canada and MRUN are aligned in increasing the value and success of these companies and their partners” says Gary Keller, VP and Managing Director of MRUN. In recognition of this, the organizations will work together on joint events and programs including MRUN’s annual CATTEC VI Early Stage Investor event and ACCT Canada’s Innovation conference. CATTEC VI is the sixth annual conference bringing together stakeholders in the commercialization and financing of startup companies based on technologies from the Midwest research institutions. The conference will be held on October 8th – 9th at the Illinois Science and Technology Park (ISTP)in Skokie Illinois.
Innovation 2013 is a business and professional development conference that draws from the global community of commercialization and innovation management practitioners. The conference draws an audience from academia, industry and government as well as venture investors and other managers of Canada’s intellectual assets for the purpose of expanding and improving Canada’s success on the international innovation stage. Innovation 2013 will be held in Toronto, Ontario December 4th – 6th.
